This year, it is 40 Years ago that Bryco became a Kubota Engine Dealer Distributor. Bryco is a family-owned company started by our father, Bryan, in the early 1960’s with Petter Engines who were part of the Hawker Siddeley Group. At the time Petter manufactured diesel engines, generators, marine and transport refrigeration. Throughout the years, true to tradition, British manufacturing did not self-invest and Petter merged with Lister and the downfall of two of the greatest British engine brands began.
At the time Petter refrigeration were fitting their own manufactured engines such as AC1-AC2, BMC 1.5, Onan CCK, and if you go back far enough even BSA. After that Petter started installing Kubota engines starting out with the D850 followed up by the Z400, Z600 and V1902, which sadly over the preceding years started the demise of Petter. At this time in 1985 our father wrote to Kubota Japan asking if they would consider Bryco for an engine dealership in the UK, and as you can see from the image below we were officially appointed on 1st January 1986.
Since then we have gone from strength to strength with Kubota and last year our father celebrated his 90th birthday, almost half of his life spent working successfully with Kubota. Two brothers and two sisters are now at the helm, each working 40 years with Kubota giving us a grand total of 160 years combined experience, unrivalled in our industry.
Here is to the future, may it long continue, and I wish to thank all the people and companies from the past and still with us that have given their support to us since our inception 53 years ago.
